Purpose: To focus on the Birth and Life of Christ throughout the Christmas Season.
Day 1: We made a "count-down" to Christmas Chain. Inside each link is a scripture that focuses on the Birth of Christ.

Day 2: We learned about one of the stories about how the tradition of the Christmas Tree began. We also made Rice Krispy Christmas Trees.

Day 3: We learned about the tradition of putting lights on the tree. Our new tree is pre-lit so we didn't have to string lights but we did plug them in and enjoy them!

Day 4: We learned why people put ornaments on Christmas trees and decorated our tree.

Day 6: We learned about the tradition of Christmas cards and how they became popular. Then we made our own Christmas cards.

Day 7: We learned where the tradition of Christmas caroling came from. We sang each persons favorite carol. The girls really love "Away in a Manger."

Day 8: Today was all about the candy cane! We learned about why it was invented and what it symbolizes. Then we made candy cane hearts.

Day 9: We learned when outdoor Christmas lights became popular. Then to let our lights shine we wrote our testimonies of Christ down on paper.

Day 10: Today we learned why the poinsettia is popular at Christmas. We made paper poinsettias to decorate our door.

Day 11: We learned about some Christmas traditions in Mexico and made Mexican hot chocolate.

Day 13: Today we learned why we give gifts at Christmas. Then we each made a gift for Jesus.

Day 14: We learned about St. Nicholas. We decided that since we are moving to a smaller place soon that we could give some of our stuff to people who need it.

Day 16: Today we learned the role of angels in the Christmas story and colored an angel.

Day 17: We talked about traditional treats associated with Christmas and colored a gingerbread man.

Day 18: We learned why candles are part of the Christmas tradition.

Day 20: We learned why the Nativity is popular and made a Nativity scene.

Day 21: Today we learned what birds represent in the Scriptures and made Christmas bird ornaments.
Day 22: We learned what Christmas was like in Nauvoo. Then we ate some foods that they may have enjoyed at Christmas during the time of Joseph Smith.
